The team
The Engineering Product Design (EPD) team has over 600 people worldwide who work on maintaining and developing Contentsquare products.
These products are managed across 8 different vertical Product Lines, each led by a trio of Product, Engineering and Design directors, and broken down into multiple teams called Units. A typical Unit consists of 5-15 people, including a Product Manager, a Team Lead, and several developers.
As a Program Manager, you’ll join the Program & Quality Excellence team. This team regroups approximately 40 people who work across the entire EPD, stepping in wherever needed to ensure large product development projects are on track and quality standards are upheld.
The Job
Program Management in Contentsquare is playing a major role in reconciling strategy and execution. You will have the opportunity to contribute to EPD’s success by promoting self-organization, optimizing processes, and coordinating cross-team transversal projects with high business impact.
In the day-to-day, the role of Program Managers depends greatly on the scope you work on. However, there are some common themes where PgM input is highly expected :
– Team Collaboration: Day to day, you’re expected to facilitate communication and decision-making between all stakeholders of a given project from its inception until its delivery. Your role is to make sure everyone is on the same page at any given time.
– Work Planning: Due to our Engineering projects involving multiple teams with varying timelines, accurate planning of responsibilities and deadlines is crucial. As a Program Manager, you will ensure meticulous project planning to optimize feasibility and predictability.
– Progress Monitoring: As an impartial time-keeper for a project, you are expected to regularly update leadership and senior stakeholders on progress toward objectives.
– Risk Management: Projects often face risks of missing delivery deadlines. As a Program Manager, you must continuously anticipate and address these challenges, bring them to leadership’s attention, and outline and communicate mitigation plans.
– Dependency Management: In situations where one team relies on another to complete a task, Program Managers play a crucial role in coordinating dependencies through identification, communication, and alignment of the involved teams and stakeholders.
What you will need to succeed:
At least 5 years of work experience in a tech company and project management.
Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal, which you use daily to bring clarity and influence at all levels without formal authority.
Strong adaptability and pragmatism: your interpersonal skills allow you to get along with people easily and move forward regardless of the context.
Action-oriented: you proactively address issues by bringing in the right people for quick solutions, even if it fall outside your immediate responsibilities.
Curious and hands-on: you are capable of both deep diving into details and zooming out to see the bigger picture, depending on the situation.
Autonomous: you can set your agenda and take initiatives without needing direction.
As you can see, most of the skills needed to excel as a Program Manager are soft skills. However, it’s important to be comfortable with (or quickly learn) the tools we use daily, such as Jira, The Google Suite, and Slack…. Being tech-savvy is a strong advantage.
