The Role

We’re looking for a DevOps Engineer to work within our cross-functional product teams is to contribute to the design, build and operation of elastically-scaling, distributed, and highly-available products that service a global customer base and support our high-volume transactional business. Shipping product is our heartbeat – we strive to ship frequently, incrementally, safely, and securely. You can help enable your team to accelerate their learning, conduct experiments, receive faster feedback, and ultimately deliver value to our customers.

What you will do

Leverage cloud infrastructure effectively so to achieve higher levels of agility, availability, and cost-visibility
Automate deployment of infrastructure and product into cloud platforms, leveraging best practices such as infrastructure-as-code
Evangelise and implement continuous integration, continuous testing, and continuously delivery practices
Make deploying product a reliable, low-risk process that can be performed on demand any time
Employ monitoring and observability best practices to empower your team to understand the health of their systems and use data to drive product decisions
Support your team moving from tightly coupled architecture to microservice-based architectures without re-architecting everything at once
Help the team shift left on security without compromising delivery speed
Proactively identify trends to address problems before they become incidents.
Share your personal knowledge and experience to uplift skills and competencies of team members and colleagues in your expert area.
Desire to create and contribute to a generative DevOps culture of cross-functional collaboration and enthusiasm for working on shared team and product goals
Be an active participant and contributor to our DevOps community of practice

Requirements

Essential:

At least 1 years’ experience of Kubernetes and surrounding technologies
Experience within GCP and/or AWS-based cloud infrastructure and services
Experience with CI/CD tooling and best practices (preferably Azure DevOps or Github Actions)
Demonstrable experience with Infrastructure as Code and configuration management tools such as Terraform and Ansible
Understanding of OpenTelemetry observability framework
Experience of APM tools, such as Grafana and Elastic stacks
Excellent collaborative and communication skills
A growth mindset and eagerness to learn
The ability to thrive in an ambiguous environment with a high degree of autonomy

Desirable:

Exposure to Service Meshes and/or API gateways, such as Gloo, Traefik, or Istio
Experience of cloud provider and/or cloud native serverless technologies, such as AWS Lambda, GCP Cloud Functions, Knative, or Serverless
Understanding of message broker and/or event streaming technologies, such as Kafka
Appreciation of NoSQL, graph, and/or time-series databases
