About the role:
The Fleet Operations team sits within Samsara’s Telematics business and owns a wide and deep surface area within that. Its scope includes Vehicle Maintenance, Tracking, Utilization, Routing, and Vehicle Activity, in addition to the workflows and APIs that allow our customers to run their businesses using Samsara. Fleet Operations is at the core of Samsara’s Telematics offering, and its features are some of our platform’s most used and most impactful.
The Senior Product Manager will be responsible for deeply understanding customer needs, competitive threats, and market dynamics governing fleet tracking and analytics to set strategy and execute. This is a deeply cross-functional role and over the course of a given day a Sr. PM at Samsara may interact with colleagues in Sales, Marketing, Legal, Customer Support, Customer Success, and our other product teams. It’s a dynamic, fast-paced product area and a team that is positioned to have big impact both today and well into the future.

In this role, you will:
Own and articulate the priorities of our customers and our business around Fleet Operations to internal and external stakeholders
Define product requirements for user-facing capabilities, and serve as the ‘voice of the customer’ in trade-off discussions & decision-making forums
Partner closely with your engineering counterparts to set measurable goals and track progress toward those priorities, balancing both short- and long-term outcomes
Establish a vision and strategy for the monetization and selling motion of our Fleet Operations product
Partner with other Product and GTM teams to align priorities and dependencies
Actively remove roadblocks so your project(s) are delivered in a timely manner
Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (focus on customer success, build for the long-term, adopt a growth mindset, be inclusive, and win as a team) as we scale globally
Minimum requirements for the role:
5+ years in a product management role, with experience working with Enterprise customers
Strong analytical skills to evaluate and interpret large datasets and make informed decisions
Strong credibility with engineers and ability to understand system dependencies and make trade-offs
Experience working in a customer-focused environment and ability to establish trust & credibility with customers
A proven track-record of delivering outstanding results for customers & the business, managing significant complexity & aggressive timelines. You also have a bias-to-action and aren’t afraid to get your hands dirty
Advanced organizational skills and attention to detail
Excellent communication skills. Must be comfortable presenting to customers, executives, internal audiences, auditors, etc. and cater your comms based on your audience
An ideal candidate also has:
Experience with GPS hardware and services, vehicle data platforms, telemetry, or similar, ideally in a B2B context
Experience partnering closely with Sales, as both a valuable source of inspiration and as a customer onto themselves
The ability to balance “big data” with “small data” : how to interrogate your intuition and trust your gut when necessary
A desire to meaningfully contribute to our Product Management team and practice at Samsara
