Website Sona

The real economy employs 3 billion people in frontline jobs, yet frontline teams are still left to choose between paper and Excel or decade-old workforce management solutions to take care of the most important part of their businesses – their people.

Enter Sona, the Frontline Operating System; an end-to-end platform to manage a shift-based workforce and empower its teams. Sona upgrades the functionality you expect from any workforce management software – including scheduling, time & attendance, HR, and Payroll – with industry-specific plugins, dedicated features to empower staff, and a consumer-grade experience that simplifies frontline work for everyone.

In just three years, we’ve already made a deep impact on the lives of tens of thousands of frontline workers and the operation of their organisations, grown the team to 100+, and following our recent $27.5M Series A fundraise, have secured the backing of notable VC’s including Felicis, Northzone, Gradient Ventures (Google), SpeedInvest, Antler, and Notion Capital plus notable angels like Tom Blomfield (Monzo).

It’s a hugely exciting time to be joining the team, as we’re still small enough that you’ll have a significant impact on the company, growth trajectory and culture, yet large enough that we have a great structure, experienced leaders and world-class benefits in place (such as being fully remote and flexible and working 4.5 days a week). More on working at Sona here.

About the Role

We’re bringing the modern, user-centric experiences we expect in consumer products to frontline teams. This means balancing ideal user experience, immediate growth needs, and our ambitious long-term vision to create the “self-driving car of workforce technology.”

As a designer at Sona, you’ll collaborate across cross-functional product pods to deliver new features to our core modules and employ a wide range of skills, including: product strategy, customer interviews, interface design, implementing effective delivery processes, and building our component library.

To excel, you’ll need to be comfortable delivering small pieces quickly and iterating based on our users feedback and need, aligning across a team on the right level of ‘done’, and effectively managing time, fidelity, and tooling on a piece-by-piece basis to ensure the rest of the team is supported. It’s a challenge, but it offers the reward of significant influence on the product we’re building together.

Responsibilities

Day to day, you will be:

Working with rest of product team to define and deliver output to meet business objectives
Aligning internal stakeholders and customers around outcomes and design decisions
Refining deliverables across web and (react native) app from proposal, to lo-fi concept, to polished UI
Directly and independently working with users, customers, and internal SMEs to validate requirements
Helping to coordinate output across our design and wider product team

Requirements

Everyone is different, but we’re looking for as many of the following as possible:

You’re highly proficient in Figma and modern design practices, defaulting to creating reusable components and easily navigable design files.
You break down features into minimal viable pieces, comfortable starting at lowest-fidelity to quickly gather feedback and iterate.
You quickly grasp complex business areas and your understanding to make informed design decisions.
You’re commercially aware when deciding what to build and when and excited about the challenges of building for enterprise customers
