Rebooting AI

Jun 30, 2021

AI is regularly in the news, often boasting new milestones that have been broken or forecasting job losses due to advancements. It is often difficult to understand where our AI is currently and where it will go in the future. AI is very good at winning a game of Jeopardy, but in the real world winning a quiz show is not conducive to superhuman diagnostic abilities or safe self driving car systems.

In Rebooting AI Gary Marcus and Ernest Davis, both leaders in the field, provide a clear analysis of the current capabilities of AI and where it could go in the future, along with the possible ramifications of these advancements. As someone who has limited experience with AI technology, I found their explanations clear and easy to follow, and would recommend this book to anyone looking to deepen their knowledge of a field that is rapidly expanding and influencing our day to day lives.
