Sue Lloyd-Roberts is the UK’s first female video journalist with 30 years experience in human rights journalism, witnessing and reporting on some of the worst acts committed against humanity and talking to women from across the globe about the hardships they face and their responses and activism as a result. In a time where the world has never been more connected, the feminist movement is divided by the varying extremes experienced across the globe, but Lloyd-Roberts brings these stories together in a powerful narrative. Whilst many of these stories are upsetting, the bravery and determination that these women fight with serve as an inspiration to all, and I would recommend this book to anyone looking to educate themselves further on the human rights issues being faced and the efforts to fight back. Lloyd Roberts’ unique perspective, having witnessed and investigated these events, provides no better guide to the war that is waged on women.
