Since the pandemic, 80% of organisations have seen more employees ask for mental health support, showing demand for wellbeing resources is at its peak, and will only continue to increase this year.
Simone Biles withdrawing from the Olympics has a much deeper message for leaders and HR professionals. As we keep flip flopping between lockdowns and still don’t have a swivel chair to call our own, Biles shows us that we need to take a more proactive approach to workplace wellbeing. It’s no longer enough to wait for employees to let us know that they’re struggling. It’s time for us to proactively tackle stress, anxiety, social separation, and burnout before it’s too late. But here’s the thing. Unless your employees physically see wellbeing resources on a daily basis, they won’t 1. Know about them, and 2. Ever use the them. Here’s what we need to do instead:
- Data – what do your people need?
- Visibility – how accessible are your resources?
- Personalisation – is the content tailored to their needs?
- Repeat – run it, analyse it, tweak it, and brag about it
