What you’ll do
Provide technical leadership and expertise in operating the data persistence layer
PostgreSQL management
Contribute to all aspects of planning, modeling, design, implementation, support, and performance optimization of data services
Develop tools to automate the deployment, administration and monitoring of data services
Coordinate upgrades with the engineering and management applying standard methodologies for minimizing impacts on service uptimes
Administer the database services, ensuring daily/weekly maintenance routines are successful, optimize application level SQL queries
Oversee backups and audits to ensure databases remain accessible, secure, and stable
Enforce the highest levels of security and privacy are in place
Work closely and cooperatively with engineering, security, technical operations, product management, program management, and all other partners
Be available alongside your peers, off-hours, to support the production environment
What you need to succeed
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics (or related field), or equivalent work experience.
3+ years of programming experience with 2+ years of recent experience in modern languages and/or technology in use at Workfront.
Demonstrate strength in writing code to automate infrastructure deployment, monitoring and data movement. Preferably Python and some sort of scripting language like Bash.
Experience with various database technologies and engines, such as MongoDB, Postgres, mySQL and Oracle.
Demonstrate strength in SQL for generating reports, tuning queries, cleansing data, refreshing lower lanes and validating data and processes.
Ability to describe concepts and whiteboard designs dealing with high-availability, redundancy, and multi-threaded mechanisms.
A strong DevOps approach with an emphasis on taking on the role of SME (subject matter expert)
Experience with real-time or distributed systems that perform at mass-scale and can also be upgraded automatically or during peak volume periods.
A passion for working with large data sets, complex problem solving and a drive to work with and motivate a team of highly-talented peers.
Experience with cloud technologies such as S3, EC2, Lambda, Aurora, Atlas (MongoDB).
